Presentation of The Department of Ophthalmology

The Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital has remained a reference in the field of eye diseases for more than a century.

Its teams of experts, working in a department comprised of six services, cover all ophthalmology specialities,
from screening to refractive surgery to more complex corrections for cataracts, glaucoma, orbital disorders, strabismus, eye inflammations, and eye infections with techniques developed for the conjunctiva, the cornea, the retina, eyelids, and tear ducts. Further specialties are housed here with paediatric ophthalmology
starting at birth and neuro-ophthalmology.

An ophthalmology emergency department is open round the clock, 7 days a week.

The Ophthalmology Division is housed in a new, high-performance facility on the first floor of the Foundation Hospital.

On the same floor, we are equipped with cutting-edge technology, carrying out additional ophthalmological tests required to diagnose and monitor eye diseases.

Finally, the Foundation Hospital's "head and neck" specilization allows it to manage complex cases in collaboration with the departments of neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, ENT, and others.

A surgical block with 7 operating theatres dedicated to ophthalmology surgery enables all types of eye surgery to be performed, under local or general anaesthetic, and on patients of all ages, including newborn babies. The very latest lasers are available in the facility.

Depending on the type of surgery, three forms of admission are possible: short-term outpatient admission for stays of no more than half a day, long-term outpatient admission for stays of no more than one day, and conventional hospital admission for stays of more than one day.

In partnership with the Universities of Paris VI and Paris VII, the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital provides teaching to national and international specialists and also carries out diagnostic and treatment-based investigations on eye diseases.

The Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital is regularly ranked among the top 3 ophthalmology centres in France.

The Ophthalmology Division is divided into 6 departments which all work closely together.
