Presentation of the Department of Interventional Neuroradiology

The Department of Interventional Neuroradiology (INR) at the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital is a department that specialises in the treatment of vascular malformations of the brain and spinal cord and strokes during the acute phase.

BD-Couleur-AdR-Opthalmo-23This speciality involving the endovascular treatment of intracranial vascular diseases was developed to manage lesions not accessible via neurosurgical methods. With the improvement of imaging methods, navigation equipment and endovascular treatments, INR currently enables the first-line treatment of aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations.

A team of four providers specialised in interventional neuroradiology offers emergency care, round the clock and 7 days a week, for strokes and cerebrovascular events, whether they are ischaemic (occlusion of vessel to the brain) or haemorrhagic (rupture of an arteriovenous malformation or an aneurysm).

Experience acquired in the treatment of brain lesions has led to these treatment techniques being offered for other conditions too, particularly in the ophthalmology or ENT fields (vascular malformations in the region of the eye and eyelids, tumours such as childhood retinoblastoma or ENT tumours).
