Missions

For over a century, the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital has been developing expertise in the treatment of eye and brain conditions.

Its activities in the field of ophthalmology and neurology have gradually been expanded in recent decades to include neurosurgery, ENT and interventional neuroradiology.

The Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital has always been and still remains a national and international reference for head and neck diseases, thanks to the development of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care combined with sustained investment in new therapies and technological innovations.

The specific feature of the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital is that it combines eye and brain specialities, head- and neck-related diseases, from young children through to the elderly.

The technical facilities are constantly being updated to incorporate innovations such as a latest-generation 3 Tesla MRI scanners, state-of-the-art vascular rooms for interventional neuroradiology and cutting-edge surgical equipment (neuronavigation robot, lasers, etc.).

Quality of care for all and medical progress lies at the heart of everything we do.

  • From the outset, the Foundation Hospital's priority has been to give as many people as possible the chance to benefit from medical and technological innovation, with the hospital offering "sector 1" access to all its specialities, with no additional charge over and above the set French social security system rate.
  • Thanks to a human-sized environment, our teams are equipped to coordinate and draw on their complementary skills to reach a diagnosis and perform complex surgical procedures as quickly as possible.
  • Finally, investment in clinical research has been stepped up and the close partnership with Paris' medical schools, the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research) and INSERM (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) has been further reinforced.Accredited to host trainee practitioners from medical schools (residents and hospital students), the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital also has its own Clinical Research Unit and a Clinical Investigation Centre, with these two structures supporting numerous research programmes.

Numerous medical and scientific collaborative networks link physicians from the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital to the various public hospitals in the Ile de France (Greater Paris) region.

Our high standards in terms of quality of care and treatment, safety and dialogue with patient associations are reflected by our position at the top of hospital rankings year after year and by our results in the Haute Autorité de Santé (French National Authority for Health) certification procedure.

Chaired by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild, the Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital is a private not-for-profit institution (ESPIC).

The values of multiculturalism, excellence and sharing, so dear to Ariane and Benjamin de Rothschild, are adhered to by all the Foundation Hospital's personnel and institutionally formalised in our strategic plan.

Fondation Ophtalmologique Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital is a member of the philanthropic network of Edmond de Rothschild Foundations (www.edrfoundations.org), whose work around the world is aimed at promoting  medical research, the arts and social entrepreneurship.
